Counterparty onboarding

Compliance, before commerce.

Onboarding is not a formality we work through after agreeing terms. It is the first stage, and it determines whether there is a transaction to discuss at all.

Process

Four stages of onboarding.

Each stage has to complete before the next begins. The full sequence typically runs in parallel with the technical discussion, but never after it.

01

Entity verification

Certificate of incorporation, registered address, ownership structure and the identity of the person authorised to sign.

02

Sanctions screening

The entity, its beneficial owners and the named vessel or transport operator are screened against the applicable sanctions lists.

03

Destination and end use

The discharge point and intended end use are confirmed against the trade controls that apply to the product and destination.

04

Financial capability

The payment instrument, the issuing bank and, where relevant, the confirming bank are reviewed before terms are agreed.

Documentation

What we will ask you for.

The list below is the standard set. Depending on the product, the destination and the payment structure, we may ask for additional items — a storage agreement, an import licence, or confirmation of the receiving terminal's intake capability.

We provide the equivalent set for our own entity on request. The exchange is reciprocal; a counterparty that will not evidence itself is not one we can contract with.

Data handling

Onboarding documents are held only for as long as the relationship and the applicable record-keeping obligations require, and are shared internally only with the people working the file.

Submit documents by email to the operations address, or through a secure transfer service of your choosing. Please do not attach identity documents to a web form.

We never ask for credentials

No member of staff will ever ask for a banking password, PIN or online banking credential, by email, telephone or any form on this site. Treat any such request as fraudulent and tell us about it.

Anti-fraud

Signals worth stopping for.

These appear regularly in fraudulent energy offers. Any one of them is reason enough to pause a transaction and verify independently — with us, or with any other counterparty.
